April SAM Assembly 206 Meeting
The April meeting of SAM Assembly 206 will be on Monday, April 20th at 7:00 PM in the meeting room at Hilgers House.
First off, thank you to everyone who helped out at the Austin Magic Auction! Things ran smoothly and were successful because of all the help. Hopefully you were able to pick up a few new things at great prices.
In April, we're going to be talking about visual magic. Things that don't require much explanation and can be done for someone even if you don't speak the same language. Tricks like this are also great when performing for smaller children or in elder care facilities. Speaking of which, we're working on finalizing some things for volunteer opportunities to perform in hospitals and elder care homes. This is an opportunity for us to give back to the community and brighten someone's day who may really need it. I'll announce details at the next meeting, but if you're interested in helping out (and gaining some performing experience), please let me know.
Austin Berg put on an impressive display of riffle stacking during our March feedback session and received valuable suggestions for improving the routine. April is currently open, so if you’ve got something that needs some polishing, let me know, and I’ll put you on the list.
We'll do Open Mic to close the meeting so feel free to bring a new (or old) trick that you'd like to show off.
If you want to sign up for a feedback session or have a public show to promote, please email me at J Weldon.
I’ll see everyone at the next meeting on Monday, April 20th, at 7:00 PM in the meeting room at Hilgers House.

Magic Around Town
MagicProv
Tuesday, March 31st at 7:00 PM is the monthly performance of MagicProv. This month features Dr. Gary, Dylan Love, and John Carter, along with the Jokus Pokus Improv Troupe.
Magical Mind Mysteries
Magical Mystical Michael performs at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, April 8th, at the Vortex Theater. Combining wit, charm, and a "sleight" attitude, this show is laced with his eccentric and illusive logic creating entertaining magic of the mind, eyes, and hands.
FISM winner Henry Evans will be lecturing at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, April 29th, at Heroes Night Out (1150 N US 183 Highway Svc Rd. - Bldg 5, Cedar Park, TX 78613). The cost is $20 for paid dues members of the local IBM or SAM and $30 for non-members.
Henry will explain several important concepts using magic effects as perfect examples of each said concept. You will see original openers and closers, and his news ideas. He also will teach us very practical effects with cards using borrowed and shuffled decks sometimes with a simple and fast setup and sometimes without any setup at all.
The lecture will run approximately two hours, with a short intermission. It will include a short lecture and demonstration by Daniel Mormina (FISM 2022 Invention Winner). You get 2 FISM winners for the price of 1!
